What I’m reading on the train

Two new books I just got that are both great, and I’m enjoying reading on the train:

Meta Math!: The Quest for Omega (Peter N. Nevraumont Books)

The Halo Effect: … and the Eight Other Business Delusions That Deceive Managers

Why I bought it: The Halo Effect was endorsed by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, author of one of my favorite recent books, namely Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets so that immediately caught my attention. I also love books that challenge the conventional (boring business book) wisdom; and I needed a counterweight to the HBR that now arrives in the mail every month! Actually I got both of these books on Amazon right after a visit to the local Borders bookstore. I think bookstores are vital for discovering new things to read, but I guess it’s quite sad that I do that, that I love the bookstore but can wait two days for the Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping to bring me my book at a cheaper price, but what can you do. At least I spend a few bucks in there on the mocha/latte thingy which I’m sure they’ve got to be pretty happy about from a margin perspective. And sometimes I wll buy stuff from the bookstore, just not this time…
